Florence Packing Guide

Any good traveler knows to pack certain necessities. But, it can be tricky to find the balance between being prepared and not over-packing where the things you bring along your adventures are literally weighing you down!

Take a look at my three categories of what to pack when traveling to Florence, between “an absolute must,” “better safe than sorry,” and “might be nice!”.

“An Absolute Must”

Power Plug Adapter: Chances are your regular phone chargers and other electronics don’t use the same sockets that you’ll find in Italy! No one wants to risk going through their technology on a journey across the world to somewhere completely new. But, don’t worry! A simple plug adapter will attach to your current chargers and devices so that they can fit into the sockets! I highly recommend getting a universal power adapter – as this can help keep you connected on your future travels as well!

Comfortable Shoes: Most people around Florence get around by walking! So, you won’t want to get stuck in the middle of the city in uncomfortable shoes. You may have a hard time getting back to your hotel, or – at least – it won’t be a pleasant trip home!

Cash: You’re always going to want to have cash handy on your travels. While most places around the Western world except credit cards and even mobile pay, many shops and things throughout Florence prefer cash.

“Better Safe Than Sorry”

Layers: Florence has a variety of weather that comes through. You’ll be most comfortable walking through the city with a light rain jacket, sweater, or scarf to adjust as-needed to the changing temperatures.

Camera: Often, our phones have become our best cameras. But, there is nothing like turning the phone off for a few hours to take pictures of the beautiful architecture or the city or the quant coffee cups resting on boutique cafe shops. My favorite camera to travel with is the FujiFilm x100v its small and compact and takes the best quality photos. Click here to learn more about the Fujifilm x100v

“Might be nice!”

Wine Bottle Stopper and Protectors: If you are traveling to Florence, chances are you are going to be tasting some wine! You may find yourself at dinner wishing you had something to keep your wine safe from the trek from the restaurant to the hotel. Bring a wine bottle protector to make sure you can continue enjoying one of Florence’s best experiences: wine!

Psst… When in doubt, bring a large bag instead to help carry your spoils back to the room!
